The arrest, which took place in Ponta Grossa (PR), was authorized by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF (Supreme Federal Court).
Last month, Martins was sentenced to 21 years in prison for participating in the coup plot after the 2022 elections. He had been under house arrest since last Saturday (27).
According to the conviction, Martins would have presented Bolsonaro with the so-called “coup draft”, a document that would introduce exceptional measures to keep him in power.
