The expansion of the income range for more than 55 million beneficiaries who will receive the Social Electricity Discount from the federal government begins to take effect this Thursday (1st).
The new discount complements the existing “Luz do Povo” Social Energy Tariff and is intended for families in the Single Registry for Social Programs (CadÚnico) who have a monthly income between half and one minimum wage per person.
With the new rule, the beneficiary is entitled to a discount of up to 120 kilowatt-hours on consumption per month.
Residences that exceed this limit will pay the normal rate.
