According to a report on the website UOLthe car was recently rescued by businessman and vintage car collector Alexandre Badolatowhich aims to give new life to the sedan that was a true icon of the 1990s.

On his YouTube channel, Badolato said that the vehicle was in the courtyard of the Senai of Ipiranga, in the South Zone of São Paulo, but he passed through several places until he got there.

The car was displayed at the Auto Show in October 1992, when General Motors launched the Omega to replace the old one Opal.

That same month, Omega wine was “cut” in half by a magician using a type of flashlight at the Anhembi exhibition center, also in São Paulo.

Although the performance was just an act to make it look like the magician had cut the vehicle in half with a “laser”, the Chevy it was, in fact, split in half for the show.

After attending a few more exhibitions and spending a good amount of time in Senaio Omega chassis number 37 arrived at Badolato, which has already started work to restore it.

“It’s unusual that this car survived. Normally, the industry takes vehicles like this, made for events and exhibitions, and later dismantles them. But now, it came to us and we are carrying out the restoration process”, the businessman told UOL.

It is worth emphasizing that the objective is not to unite the two halves to try to make it work again. The aim is only to recover worn-out parts and replace parts that have disappeared or been damaged over time.

“As it is a car so different from what was available at the time of its launch, and also due to the great repercussion it caused, it has historical importance. It will be cool to add to the collection we already have”, added Badolato.
