Magnitude 6 earthquake hits coast of Japan USGS A magnitude 6 earthquake hit the east coast of the Noda region, Japan, this Wednesday (31), according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The tremor was recorded at sea, approximately 91 kilometers from the city. According to the USGS, the quake occurred at a depth of about 19 kilometers.
