The Ministry of Health published an ordinance authorizing the transfer of R$1 billion to 3,498 philanthropic and Santas Casas hospitals distributed across all regions of Brazil.
According to the ministry, the amount is part of a new financing model for the sector, which provides for annual adjustments in payments for procedures carried out by the Unified Health System (SUS). The calculations consider hospital production recorded in the previous year.
According to the ministry, the new format can guarantee values two to three times higher than those charged by the old SUS table, especially in packages involving consultations, exams and surgeries.
The transfer will be made in a single installment, directly to state and municipal health funds. The expectation is that the resources will begin to be implemented from January.
