Man climbs bridge in Washington in protest against war Anti-war and anti-AI activist Guido Reichstadter climbed the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge in Washington in protest against American President Donald Trump, in addition to taking a stand against the war in Iran and against the advancement of artificial intelligence tools. While on top of the bridge, he posted on his X account: “End wars. Overthrow the Trump regime. Stop AI. Revolutionary, non-violent non-cooperation with evil is our right, power and responsibility.” In X, Guido wrote the reasons that led him to protest. “Hello, my name is Guido Reichstadter and I am currently standing atop the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge in Washington, D.C. I am calling on the people of the United States to immediately end the Trump regime’s illegal war against Iran and to remove the regime from power through mass, nonviolent direct action and non-cooperation,” he wrote. Andrew Leyden/ZUMA Press Wire “I also want to urgently warn the people of the United States and the world about the imminent danger of us passing a point of no return towards the development of artificial intelligence, which poses the risk of catastrophic harm to humanity, including human extinction,” he continued. “I call on the governments of the world to take immediate action to end this danger by permanently banning the development of artificial general intelligence and machine superintelligence. I also call on the people of the world to exert all possible influence, through non-violent actions, to force their governments to end this danger with the utmost urgency,” added the protester. In a telephone conversation with an official, Reichstadter reinforced his protest against what he called the “illegal attack on Iran and the ongoing war, and the fact that we are in an AI crisis.” Man climbs bridge in Washington in protest. In 2022, he had already made a similar protest against the American Supreme Court decision that suspended the right of each state in the United States to legislate on the right to abortion.
