USA investigates disappearance of military personnel and scientists The White House was questioned this Wednesday (15) about a series of disappearances or deaths of scientists and military personnel who participated in secret research into nuclear, aerospace or UFO materials in the United States. The cases have been reverberating across the country in recent days. ✅ Follow the g1 international news channel on WhatsApp Last week, Newsweek magazine published a report on investigations into at least eight cases in the country, registered since 2024. The most recent occurred in February, when retired Air Force Major General William Neil McCasland disappeared. McCasland participated in UFO research. He was last seen on February 27, when he left his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico, leaving his cell phone and glasses behind. According to Newsweek, the other cases are: Frank Maiwald: researcher at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory who died at the age of 61, in July 2024. The cause of death was not disclosed. Anthony Chavez: former Los Alamos National Laboratory employee who disappeared on May 4, 2025. The laboratory was responsible for developing nuclear weapons. Monica Reza: NASA scientist who disappeared while hiking in the Angeles National Forest in June 2025. Melissa Casias: administrative assistant at Los Alamos who disappeared in June 2025. The report states that electronic devices were formatted. Jason Thomas: assistant director of chemical biology at Novartis who disappeared in December 2025. His body was found in March in a lake. Nuno Loureiro: head of the MIT Plasma and Fusion Science Center who was killed at home in December 2025. Carl Grillmair: astrophysicist who was shot on his balcony in February. Deaths and disappearances of scientists or military personnel in the United States since 2024 give rise to conspiracy theories Disclosure Recently, the North American news network NewsNation added two other names to the list: Steven Garcia: worked as a janitor at a company that supplies non-nuclear components for atomic weapons to the USA. According to the broadcaster, he had maximum security access to the building and disappeared in August 2025. Michael David Hicks: scientist who worked on important space missions and died in 2023. NewsNation stated that the cause of death was never disclosed. According to the American press, all the names on the list had some type of access to sensitive information or maximum security locations linked to the US government. The cases raised conspiracy theories on social media and began to be reported by the American press. Faced with the repercussions, Republican Congressman Eric Burlison asked Congress to seek answers. “The disappearance of several scientists and military personnel linked to advanced research is deeply worrying. I have already requested the FBI’s involvement and we will continue to press for answers,” he posted on a social network. This Wednesday, White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt was asked whether the government was investigating a possible link between the cases. She said she saw the reports, but had no more information. “I haven’t spoken to our relevant agencies about this,” he said. “If it’s true, of course, that’s definitely something that I think this administration would consider work worth investigating.” VIDEOS: most watched on g1
