IMF resumes relations with Venezuela after six-year hiatus

The resumption of relations comes after the fall of Nicolás Maduro’s government in January, in an operation supported by the United States. Since then, President Donald Trump’s administration has worked with Rodríguez and sought to expand the American presence in Venezuela’s oil and mining sectors.
