The United States has maintained a program that uses marine animals for military purposes for decades. Despite having existed for around 60 years, this project was only revealed to the public in 1990. Initially, several animals were tested, such as sharks, turtles and sea birds, but only dolphins and sea lions proved to be effective for this type of work (see above in GloboNews report).
