Caco Barcellos reacts to comments about the report in Iran đ„ Journalist Caco Barcellos responded to comments made about his coverage of the war in Iran shown by FantĂĄstico last Sunday (12). In a video shared by the program’s team, Caco discussed the trip to the Middle East, the pain that led him to use a cane in the report, his view on the report and even joked about the fact that he left the taxi door open in the report. When reacting to one of the comments, which defended his stance, even with a cane, the journalist stated that his physical limitation does not prevent him from working. “Really, this cane of mine helped me do the job. This pain in my leg, it will continue wherever I am. It’s better for me to have this pain working in a place I really want to be in, which is war, than at home bored, with the same pain”, he said. And he joked: “A cane on ageism.” Caco also highlighted that, in the face of extreme suffering in conflict scenarios, personal discomforts become less. “You disappear, your small discomfort, your fear becomes so small in the face of people’s suffering. Especially people who are victims of an attack, of bombing,” he said. The report shown by the program showed the impacts of the war on the civilian population, a topic that the journalist classified as essential to be monitored closely. According to him, the experience reinforces his commitment to work. Another comment praised Caco, saying that the reporter shows “that grassroots journalism allows us to show something far beyond the obvious.” READ ALSO ‘A minute and a half to run’: the routine of those who live under missile attack in Israel Heart with hand and missile in the air: Caco Barcellos spots billboard with rocket love sign in Iran In response, Caco was humble, but expressed his admiration for the report. “I completely agree with what you’re saying. Of course, not the praise for me, which I’m very proud to receive, but the praise for this genre of journalism, which is reporting. Our work in extreme situations like this is a privilege. These are things that mark our lives and I think also the lives of those who watch. I strongly believe in that”, he stated. “People who are reporters have to do their best. Firstly, to take advantage of this privilege of watching in the first place and then pass on this privilege in the form of reporting to others.” Caco also joked about another observation from a viewer who pointed out the fact that he had not completely closed the door of the taxi that was in an excerpt of the report. “I have this right, I was a taxi driver for 5 years. It’s my profession”, he said. “It’s for the guy to be more attentive. And then, the door is open and it makes it easier for the other passenger to enter.” The report Exclusive: Caco Barcellos and Thiago Jock obtain authorization to enter Iran Caco and other members of the FantĂĄstico team entered Iran in the middle of the war and closely followed the effects of the bombings. In an official delegation that visited affected areas, only three foreign teams were allowed to travel around the country: TV Globo, one Russian and one British. The team crossed around 300 kilometers through Turkey, between snow-covered mountains, until reaching the border with Iran. At the checkpoint, still in Turkish territory, the recordings were interrupted by the authorities. They visited buildings hit by missiles and even attended the funeral of an Iranian Navy general killed in an attack in the Strait of Hormuz. Caco Barcellos Reproduction
