The Ukrainian Defense Intelligence Agency (GUR) received an armed patrol boat developed domestically and financed by the Diana Podolianchuk Foundation, according to the official announcement.

A Defence Blog reports that the new ship was handed over by the Diana Podolianchuk Foundation last Thursday (1), and the statement describes it as a “New Year’s handover” to support maritime operations.

The vessel is a domestic development project and is described as the first of its type to be manufactured in Ukraine. Currently, there are few similar platforms available in the global market. According to the intelligence service, it is planned to be deployed in the entire area of the Black Sea.

“Thank you to everyone involved in the implementation of the project. Thanks to these ships, we can confidently carry out special operations on the water and fight for our Black Sea,” he said Lieutenant General Kirilo Budanovhead of Ukrainian military intelligence, in a statement accompanying the handover.

The purpose of the ship is to play a fire support and direct support role during maritime operations carried out by Ukrainian military intelligence units. Its salient feature is its modular armament design, which allows installation of heavy machine guns and grenade launchers in interchangeable configurations to suit mission needs.

The hull and cabin have shrapnel and bulletproof protection, and each gunnery is equipped with its own armored shield. The platform is also equipped with modern navigation equipment, communication systems and command-and-control devices, which enable effective application in various operational conditions.

The ship is 10 meters long and can carry up to two tons of payload, making it one of the largest current types of ships for Ukrainian military intelligence. Its dimensions and payload allow it to carry personnel, weapons and mission equipment while maintaining high maneuverability.
