On January 1, 2026, in Auburn Hills, Michigan, Ram unveiled the first Power Wagon equipped with a Cummins turbodiesel engine, marking a historic milestone for the brand’s off-road pickup lineup.

The 2027 model was unveiled as part of a short film titled “Resurrection,” presented by Tim Kuniskis, head of marketing and sales strategy for American brands, SRT Performance division, and Ram.

The central innovation is the proven 6.7-liter Cummins HO engine, an inline six-cylinder turbodiesel that produces 430 horsepower and 1,075 lb-ft of torque, making it the most torquey diesel pickup in the Power Wagon class. Despite the new engine, Ram says the model remains the best off-road capable full-size pickup.

Cummins in the Power Wagon: a longstanding customer request

According to Kuniskis, the use of the Cummins engine in the Power Wagon fulfills a long-standing customer demand. The aim is to combine the robustness of the diesel engine with the model’s extreme off-road capabilities, increasing range, towing capacity and performance on trails and off-road.

The Cummins turbodiesel Power Wagon will go on sale in the second half of 2026 with a starting price of $88,470 including delivery.

Like the gasoline-powered version, the diesel Power Wagon features skid plates that protect the DEF tank, fuel tank, and transmission. The kit includes 20-inch matte black wheels on 34-inch all-terrain tires.

The model retains front and rear rigid axles with electronic locking differentials, which are unique in its class. Made by American Axle Manufacturing, the axles measure 9.25 inches in the front and 11.5 inches in the rear, with 3.42:1 ratios and 38mm reinforced rear axles.

The front suspension uses a three-link system with Bilstein monotube shock absorbers and an electronically detachable anti-roll bar, which provides a greater range of motion on the road. At the rear, the Power Wagon uses a five-link suspension with coil springs, also with Bilstein components, which increases comfort without compromising load capacity. Rear air suspension with automatic level adjustment is also available as an option.

Shift and increased range

To make full use of the diesel engine’s torque, the 2027 Power Wagon uses an eight-speed TorqueFlite HD automatic transmission combined with a 3.42 axle ratio. The first six gears focus on torque and traction, while the last two gears reduce engine speed on the road, improving fuel consumption and noise comfort.

The 31-gallon fuel tank has an estimated range of up to 600 miles, specifically for overlanding and long expeditions without remote infrastructure.

Robust design and unique configuration

The new Power Wagon with Cummins will be available exclusively in a 4×4 double cab and 6ft 4in flatbed configuration. Ground angles: 26.1° attack angle, 26.0° exit angle, 20.6° rollover angle, 13.2 inches of ground clearance. Standard equipment is the Mopar rock rail to protect the cabin and frame.

In its appearance, the model retains the Power Wagon’s characteristic aggressive styling, with a functional sports hood, widened fenders, exclusive graphic elements on the platform, matte black details and Cummins lettering on the front fenders. Optional extended LED lighting, RamBox cargo management system, heated wire mirrors with full electric adjustment and memory.

With the introduction of the Cummins engine in the Power Wagon, Ram expands its halo model lineup and reinforces its focus on offering highly specialized configurations that combine outstanding off-road performance, heavy duty and extended range.
