The poet Adélia Prado is admitted to the Intensive Care Center at Hospital São Judas Tadeu, in Divinópolis, in the center-west region of Minas Gerais, to treat kidney complications after suffering a fall at home on the last day (19).
According to the health unit, the writer had femur, elbow and wrist fractures. She underwent two surgeries, performed by the orthopedics team, with satisfactory evolution. Currently, she remains under intensive care and is being continuously monitored by a multidisciplinary team.
Born in Divinópolis, Adélia Prado is 90 years old and is considered one of the greatest poets in Brazil. Among the main works is ‘Bagagem’, a book of poems published in 1975, which impressed Carlos Drummond de Andrade. In February 2024, she received the Camões Prize; the honor is the main one in literature in the Portuguese language.
