After being captured in Venezuela and landing in New York, Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, spent the night in a Detention Center in the city.
They will be held in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in the Brooklyn region pending their court hearing. The Venezuelan will face four crimes, including narco-terrorism conspiracy and possession of explosives.
Before being taken to prison, they passed through the United States Drug Enforcement Agency, the DEA, where they were booked. In a video released by the White House, late Saturday night (3), Nicolás Maduro and his wife arrive at the scene. Cilia appears wearing a green hooded sweatshirt and is not handcuffed. Maduro follows close behind, handcuffed and escorted by armed agents. Upon entering the corridor of the DEA building, Maduro says good night and wishes the employees a happy New Year, in English.
