National Council of Secretaries defends creation of Ministry of Public Security

by Syndicated News

The National Council of Public Security Secretaries (Consesp) defended the creation of an exclusive ministry to take care of public security, following the request to leave the now former Minister of Justice, Ricardo Lewandowski.

In a released note, Consesp stated that the moment is opportune and strategic to dismember the Justice portfolio. According to the text, the creation of an exclusive ministry for the area would be a “structuring measure of great institutional significance for the country”.

The secretaries highlight that public security must be treated as a stabilizing element, based on dialogue and permanent coordination between the Union, states, Federal District and municipalities. Consesp also defended that the new department be led by experienced managers in the area. Among the names mentioned are the Secretary of Security of Piauí, Chico Lucas, and the director general of the Federal Police, Andrei Passos.

The entity also stated that it is available to the federal government to collaborate technically with the process of creating the new ministry.
