Lithuania has approved the purchase of 100 CV90 MkIV infantry fighting vehicles as part of a joint procurement program with five other NATO countries.

The project envisages the signing of the main contract in early 2026, and the first deliveries are scheduled for 2028, as part of the modernization efforts of the Lithuanian ground forces.

In addition to procurement, the agreement also provides for the installation of parts production and vehicle maintenance on the territory of Lithuania. According to the State Defense Council, the reliability of delivery deadlines and the effective implementation of industrial cooperation will be decisive factors for the country’s further participation in the multinational program, in which Finland, Sweden, Norway, Estonia and the Netherlands also participate.

Manufactured by BAE Systems Hägglunds, the CV90 MkIV offers increased protection, advanced command and control systems and the ability to integrate national technologies. A common platform among NATO allies is expected to increase interoperability, facilitate joint training and reduce logistics costs, thereby strengthening the operational readiness of the alliance’s eastern flank.
