Lithuania has approved the purchase of 100 CV90 MkIV infantry fighting vehicles as part of a joint procurement program with five other NATO countries.

The project envisages the signing of the main contract in early 2026, with the first deliveries planned for 2028, as part of the modernization of the Lithuanian land forces.

In addition to the procurement, the agreement stipulates the localization of production of components as well as maintenance of the vehicles on Lithuanian territory. According to the National Defense Council, the reliability of the delivery plans and the effective implementation of industrial cooperation will be decisive factors for further participation in the multinational programme, which also includes Finland, Sweden, Norway, Estonia and the Netherlands.

The CV90 MkIV, manufactured by BAE Systems Hägglunds, offers increased protection, advanced command and control systems and the ability to integrate national technologies. The introduction of a common platform among NATO allies is expected to strengthen interoperability, facilitate joint training and reduce logistics costs, strengthening operational readiness on the alliance’s eastern flank.
