Minister Gilmar Mendes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), denied former president Jair Bolsonaro’s request for house arrest. In the decision, taken this Saturday (17), the minister states that the request could not be analyzed, as it had been made by a lawyer who has no relation to Bolsonaro’s defense.
The request also questioned decisions made by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, also from the STF. Faced with this situation, last Friday (16), Moraes declared himself unable to analyze the application and the request was forwarded to Gilmar Mendes.
Jair Bolsonaro was transferred to the 27th Military Police Battalion of the Federal District, popularly known as “Papudinha”. The transfer guaranteed that the former president will now have full medical care, with Federal Police doctors on call 24 hours a day, in addition to unrestricted access to private doctors, without the need for prior judicial authorization.
