In a video posted to his TikTok profile, the man explains what happened. According to him, last Friday night (2nd)hondaVisit the store ofcivicIt is said that he purchased it.
“I did all the paperwork, signed everything, drove the car, and I loved it. I basically wrote the check and just drove out of the store and went home,” he says in the video.
But the next day, I got a new car.hondaWhen I tried to register for the app, I discovered that the retailer had made a mistake. When I entered the vehicle’s chassis number into the app, it said the car was still “at the dealership.”
“I was given the wrong car. So technically it’s the correct car, but it’s the model I wanted, the same color and specs. But there were about five of the same cars on the lot and I think they gave me the wrong one. I ended up signing the papers for the other car,” he explained.
The incident immediately caused the man to worry about legal issues. “I’ll have to call and resolve it on Monday. We can’t afford to have any issues with registration or title or anything like that. This is the wrong number for the wrong car.”
“This car doesn’t match all the documents I have. Technically, the car still belongs to the dealership,” he added in the video, which has already been viewed more than 4,000 times.
His worries are not in vain. If you have a document with a different chassis number than the car you actually own, it could lead to big trouble in the future.
Therefore, some users suggested some solutions in the comments section. “Just go change your car, no big deal,” one TikTok user commented. “Go back and sign a new document that matches the car you have, or trade it in for a car that matches the document,” another user suggested.
“I’ve seen a similar case once, but it went unnoticed for almost two months and was discovered when another car was being sold. It’s really unbelievable,” said a third. “It’s not that common, but it still happens. Just bring the car back and talk to the person responsible,” another user suggested.
