A third of Americans support attacks on Venezuela, and the majority fear greater US involvement, says survey

On Sunday, the president indicated that control could occur through pressure on Venezuelan leaders, without direct occupation. “If they don’t behave, we will launch a second strike,” Trump said. Republicans are more divided in their concerns about how U.S. involvement could evolve. About 54% of Republicans said they fear the U.S. will become too involved in Venezuela. The same percentage expressed concern about the financial costs. Additionally, 64% of Republicans fear that US involvement would put the lives of military personnel in Venezuela at risk. The survey interviewed 1,248 adults across the country. The survey also showed that Trump’s approval rating is 42%, the best since October. In December, it was 39%.
