Europe faces first wave of summer heat with temperatures above 40ºC

by Marcelo Moreira

Europe this weekend faces the first wave of summer heat, with temperatures that can exceed 40ºC. Spain is among the most affected countries. The weather agency warned the population about the risks.

In Madrid, tourists and residents resorted to umbrellas, fans and a lot of water to try to reduce discomfort, and families said surprises with so much heat early in the summer. Palks and other leisure areas were empty.

Dry time and intense sun causes large forest fires in other countries of the continent, such as Turkey and Greece. Thermometers can reach 44ºC, making the work of firefighters difficult.
