Russia has developed a new type of kamikaze drone called The wedgean aircraft similar to the Shahed equipped with artificial intelligence and with a range of over 100 km.
According to the Telegram channel Sonyashnykthe drone can detect and hit targets autonomously up to 120 km away (when using a repeater) or operate as an “aerial minefield” for around 80 minutes.
The take-off weight is 13.5 kg and the cruising speed varies between 108 and 300 km/h. The length of the fuselage is 1.6 m, the wingspan is 1.9 m and the maximum operating altitude reaches 2 km.
The unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is equipped with an explosive warhead and can carry a hollow charge or a high-explosive warhead. As the released photos show, some components, including the optical module, appear to have been made with a 3D printer.
Its appearance resembles the family’s drones Shaheda tailless delta aircraft, but also includes canard front planes, while the control surfaces are mounted on top of the fuselage.
