In the month of Pink October, the Ministry of Health received the first batch of a state-of-the-art medicine recently incorporated by the Unified Health System (SUS). The initial delivery, with 11,978 vials, was received at the Guarulhos Airport warehouse.
In total, four shipments of the medicine are planned. The next deliveries should take place in December 2025, March and June 2026. The total purchased by the government is 34.4 thousand units, with an investment of R$153.4 million.
The new treatment will fully meet the current demand of the SUS, benefiting 1,144 patients in 2025. The medicine is aimed mainly at women diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer, who still show signs of the disease even after initial chemotherapy.
According to the Ministry of Health, Brazil is expected to register around 73,610 new cases of breast cancer in 2025. In 2023, there were more than 20 thousand deaths.
In view of these data, the Ministry says that this new treatment represents a significant advance in oncology care, expanding the options available in the SUS. In addition to increasing the chances of controlling the disease. The medicine will be distributed to state health departments.
