The price of gasoline in Brazil is 8% more expensive than the import parity price (PPI), according to a survey by the Brazilian Association of Fuel Importers (Abicom).
In the previous week the difference had reached 10% and retreated with a drop in international prices and exchange rate stability, which ended the last session quoted at R$5.35 per dollar.
The domestic price of gasoline is R$0.23 per liter above par, with variations between R$0.17 and R$0.31, depending on the delivery hub. According to Abicom, the market remains in favorable conditions for imports of the product in relation to domestic prices. Meanwhile, diesel is sold 4% below the international price, which represents an average gap of R$0.14 per liter.
According to the association, the current scenario is the result of the high exchange rate and the devaluation of oil on the foreign market, with a barrel of Brent being traded above US$66.
