Trump advisor says Moraes should be arrested

by Marcelo Moreira

Jason Miller, one of United States President Donald Trump’s advisors, renewed his criticism of Federal Supreme Court (STF) minister Alexandre de Moraes this weekend, saying he “will not rest until he is arrested.”

“Alexandre de Moraes belongs in PRISON!!! What is he doing with the president [ex-presidente Jair Bolsonaro] It’s disgusting, and what he did to Filipe Martins is reprehensible. I won’t give up until the bald guy is behind bars and gets everything he deserves!!!” Miller wrote.

The publication was made in response to a message from federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro on

Eduardo posted a video on social media, accompanied by the following message: “Filipe Martins: arrested for a trip he didn’t take and now accused of a meeting he didn’t participate in! RELEASE FILIPE MARTINS, ALEXANDRE DE MORAES!”

The comment comes after the release of a statement by the United States government, confirming that Martins did not enter the country on December 30, 2022, as had been pointed out in documents used by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF, to justify his arrest.

In the video, Eduardo Bolsonaro referred to his father’s former advisor as one of the people “most persecuted by minister Alexandre de Moraes”.

“Filipe Martins started in solitary confinement, spent days without seeing sunlight, without having the right to leave his cell. He was imprisoned for six months, while Moraes constantly offered the possibility of a plea bargain, in an attempt to invent something to connect Bolsonaro to the ‘Disney’ coup. Filipe was a man, he held the line, he was released and today the truth comes to light”, stated the deputy, adding that the former advisor to the Presidency of Brazil is “innocent”.

About a month ago, Trump adviser Jason Miller reacted to a statement by Moraes saying the United States “does not negotiate with terrorists.” The answer came after the minister stated that the “sovereignty [do Brasil] will never be negotiated.”

The defense of the former International Affairs advisor to the Bolsonaro government, Filipe Martins, presented the final arguments to the STF this weekend, asking for the annulment of the case opened against him for his alleged participation in a coup d’état plan and for the alleged attempt to escape from Brazil after the 2022 elections.

A People’s Gazette contacted the STF for a possible response, but at the time of publication there had been no response.
