Brazil defeated South Korea 5 x 0 this Friday (10), in a friendly preparatory match for the 2026 World Cup held in the Korean capital Seoul. The victory marks the first victory of the cycle for Italian Carlo Ancelotti at the helm of Amarelinha.
Playing offensive football, the Brazilian team had no difficulty in imposing their rhythm of the game from start to finish. After 13 minutes, midfielder Bruno Guimarães made a beautiful pass through coverage to striker Estêvão who opened the scoring. Canarinho increased the score to 2 x 0 at the end of the first with a great goal from Rodrygo.
In the second half, Brazil continued to suffocate South Korea’s defensive sector and found the net once again with Estêvão, after a mistake by Korean defender Kim Min-jae. Two minutes later, the pressure continued and Vinicius Júnior found Rodrygo free from the marking, who shot well and increased the advantage.
After that, the team began to manage the result containing the South Korean attack, which posed practically no risk to the goal saved by Bento. Finally, the team took advantage of a new flaw in the defense and Vini Jr found the net for the fifth time in a good counterattack, sealing the result.
Next games of the Brazilian team
Brazil returns to the field next Tuesday (14) for a new friendly against Japan, in Tokyo. The team has two other friendlies scheduled for November against Senegal and Tunisia. The clashes are scheduled to take place in England and France, respectively.
The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) also confirmed two other matches next March against two European teams that have not yet been defined. The strategy would be to diversify the clashes against teams from different continents, as Brazil still does not know who it will face in the world cup. The draw for the group stage is scheduled to take place in December.
With this, Ancelotti will have six more games before being called up and up to 50 days with the squad to choose and prepare the players. The period is equivalent to that of a football club’s pre-season and the expectation is that the coach will use different athletes in each match.
