by Marcelo Moreira

The national Congress is expected to convene a joint session next week to debate the 2026 Budget Guidelines Bill (LDO) and President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s (PT) vetoes of the new Environmental Licensing Code.

The session is expected to take place on Thursday morning (16). The government leader in Congress, senator Randolfe Rodrigues (PT-AP), agreed to hold the session, also suggesting that it be used to prepare a calendar for deliberating alternative projects defended by the government to the Environmental Licensing Code, which are being processed in the form of a bill in the Chamber and a provisional measure.

LDO

The Budget Guidelines Law (LDO) defines how the following year’s Budget should be prepared and executed. The rapporteur of the LDO project, federal deputy Gervásio Maia (PSB-PB), has already presented his opinion.

The president of the Mixed Budget Committee (CMO), senator Efraim Filho (União-PB), stated that the project will be voted on in this collegiate before the session of the National Congress.
