This Thursday (9), Luis Roberto Barroso announced his retirement from the Federal Supreme Court. The minister had already signaled that he could bring forward his departure. At 67 years old, he had held the position since 2013, when he was appointed by Dilma Rousseff.
This opens up the possibility for President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to appoint a new minister to the Court.
Among the most talked about names behind the scenes to fill the vacancy are the Attorney General of the Union, Jorge Messias, the president of the TCU, Bruno Dantas, the former president of Cade, Vinícius Marques de Carvalho, and the president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco.
