The United States government studies launching a coin with the face of President Donald Trump as part of the 250th anniversary of the country’s 250th anniversary. The initiative, according to the Treasury Department, should begin to be implemented by 2026.
There is still no definition about the official design, but an initial version is already circulating among members of the economic team. The proposal seeks to include Trump in the series of historical honors planned for the Jubilee Marco of two and a half centuries of American independence.
According to Fox News, the project is supported by the federal government and is in the phase of technical consultations. The idea is that the currency comes into a commemorative circulation, as it occurred on other symbolic dates of US history.
A White House spokesman stated that the tribute represents recognition of a “historical leadership.” The Treasury should disclose, in the coming months, more details about the print and criteria for choosing the final design.
