The doctors responsible for the treatment of singer Hungary updated, this Friday (3), the state of health of the artist, who remains hospitalized in Brasilia after suspected methanol poisoning. According to the medical team, it is stable, does not need breathing appliances and continues to be subjected to hemodialysis sessions.
In a press conference, the doctor responsible for the case stressed that the agility in care was decisive for the current clinical picture. Hungary arrived at the hospital about two hours after the onset of symptoms, which allowed the immediate start of treatment with ethanol, folic acid and dialysis.
According to experts, hemodialysis plays an essential role in recovery. “Ethanol acts as an antidote, but does not remove the methanol from the blood. It is the dialysis that fulfills this role. He did yesterday and today, and we hope this will be the last session,” said the doctor.
The professionals also reported that there is no confirmation on where the substance was ingested. The investigation will be in charge of the police. “It may have been in Sao Paulo or Brasilia, but this will only be clarified by the police. As ethanol slows the symptoms, they can take up to 72 hours to appear,” he explained.
The team is forecast that Hungary will remain hospitalized until Sunday or Monday, when the possibility of hospital discharge will be reevaluated. After this period, the singer may continue treatment at home, with medical follow -up.
According to doctors, the artist has symptoms compatible with adulterated drink poisoning, but the definitive diagnosis will only be confirmed by laboratory tests. The material was collected on Thursday (2), and the result should be released within five days.
Experts have stressed that methanol is a highly toxic substance and that confirmation of the case requires caution. “It presents all signs of methanol poisoning, but we cannot say without the result,” concluded one of the members of the medical team. Meanwhile, Hungary is still under clinical observation and with a stable condition.
