United States President Donald Trump said Israel should “immediately” the attacks on the Gaza Strip after a positive response from the terrorist group Hamas about a ceasefire proposal. The Republican said he believed that the agreement, if accepted, will result in peace not only in the Gaza War, but in the whole Middle East. The statement was made on Friday (3) in a post on the Truth Social Network.
“Based on the newly released statement by Hamas, I believe they are ready for lasting peace. Israel must immediately interrupt Gaza’s bombing so that we can redeem hostages safely and quickly,” Trump wrote.
After Donald Trump’s publication, Hamas spoke again and said it considered the request to stop the “encouraging” bombings. The Palestinian terrorist group said on Friday (3) that he agrees to free all Israeli hostages, alive or dead, kidnapped on October 7, 2023-are more than 40 victims.
The announcement was made hours after the American leader gave Hamas a ultimatum. Trump gave until 7 pm on Sunday (5) to accept the proposal of ceasefire in Gaza prepared by the United States. Otherwise, according to him, the group would face a “total hell.”
In a statement, Hamas signaled the willingness to negotiate to discuss the details of the agreement presented on Monday (29). The White House proposal foresees the territory as a free zone of armed groups. If implemented, Gaza would be governed by a committee formed by Palestinians, technocrats and international experts.
The terrorist group said it agrees to deliver the government to an independent body. “As for the other questions presented, this is linked to a unified national position and based on relevant international laws and resolutions, to be discussed in a broad Palestinian framework, of which Hamas will be part and contributes with full responsibility,” says the published text.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he agrees with the US plan and threatened to advance in the offensive in Gaza if the deal is not closed. He also said he would not accept the creation of a Palestinian state.
