Denmark has ordered the temporary suspension of all civilian drone flights until October 3. The measure was announced by the Ministry of Defense and is directly related to the upcoming EU summit, which will take place in the country next week.
According to the authorities, the decision was triggered by recent incidents with drones at airports and is intended to increase security during the presence of European heads of state and government. Transport Minister Thomas Danielsen emphasized that non -authorized drones are confusion and potential threats and it is crucial to ensure the protection of the event.
The prohibition, based on the Air Traffic Act, provides for punishments that can include fines or up to two years in prison for violations. However, the restriction does not affect military drones, police drones or drones used for medical and rescue missions.
In addition, the authorities recently reported observations of unknown drones near the border with Germany in the state of Schleswig-Holstein.
