The Palestinian Authority released on Monday (29) a statement expressing support for the Peace Plan presented by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, to end the war in Gaza and reaffirms the willingness to hold general elections a year after the end of the conflict.
“The state of Palestine greets President Donald J. Trump’s sincere and determined efforts to end the war in Gaza and affirms his confidence in his ability to find a way to peace,” said the note, published by the official agency He died.
The statement was issued after Trump announced at the White House, alongside Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the 20-point plan called the “comprehensive plan to end the conflict in Gaza”. The proposal provides for immediate ceasefire, release of Israeli hostages, end of Hamas and militarization and the transition of power in the Palestinian enclave.
In the statement, the Palestinian authority said it was committed to working with Washington, Arab countries and international partners to “guarantee humanitarian aid to Gaza, protect civilians, prevent land attachments, and achieve the total removal of Israel.” It also reiterated support for a two -state solution, with the creation of a “sovereign” Palestinian state alongside Israel, safely and “good neighborhood”.
The text also mentions the entity’s intention to carry out political and institutional reforms, including presidential and parliamentary elections “within a year after the end of the war.” According to the note, all candidates must respect the organization’s international commitments for the release of Palestine (PLO) and the principle of “a system, a law and a legitimate security force”.
Among the commitments listed are the creation of a modern, democratic and non-militarized Palestinian state, the updating of the school curriculum in accordance with UNESCO standards and the end of the payment of benefits to families of prisoners and dead terrorists, replaced by an international audited welfare system.
The positioning of the Palestinian authority reinforces the pressure on Hamas to accept the proposal presented by Trump, which was attended by Saudi Arabia leaders, Qatar, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Pakistan, Indonesia and Turkey in negotiations. The Islamic terrorist group, which has controlled Gaza since 2007, should still analyze the proposal.
