Ultimately, Lizzo found that not being vegan anymore after maintaining a plant-based diet for years and returning to eating meat helped her feel full.
“When I was vegan, I was consuming a lot of fake meats,” she explained. “I was eating a lot of bread. I was eating a lot of rice. And I had to eat a lot of it to stay full, but really I was consuming like 3,000 to 5,000 calories a day.”
While reintroducing meat into her diet, she noticed a change. “When I started actually eating whole foods and eating like, beef and chicken and fish,” Lizzo noted. “I was actually full and not expanding my stomach by putting a lot of fake things in there that wasn’t actually filling me up.”
The musician also sounded off on the stigma people often face over using Ozempic and other weight loss medication to slim down.
“I don’t think it’s easy,” she said. “I did see somebody be like, ‘It’s a drug to help somebody with something they’re struggling with.’ It’s their way of being fatphobic, when you’re telling someone they’re cheating.”
