This Sunday (07), protesters gathered at Avenida Paulista, in São Paulo, in an act of support to former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL). The event featured speeches and posters defending the amnesty to those involved in the acts of January 8.
The demonstration takes place in the context of Bolsonaro’s trial and seven other defendants in the Supreme Court (STF), accused of involvement in an attempt to coup after defeat in the 2022 presidential elections.
According to the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), the so-called “nucleus 1”, which includes Bolsonaro, is responsible for five crimes: attempted violent abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law, attempted coup, armed criminal organization, qualified damage and deterioration of overturned heritage.
It is expected that the sentence will be released until next Friday (12). The Federal Supreme Court has heard the oral arguments of the defendants’ defenses.
To accompany the acts, the São Paulo Public Security Bureau (SSP-SP) mobilized the Military Police, through the Metropolitan Area Policing Command 1 (CPA/M-1), with monitoring operations on Paulista Avenue, Sé Square and Praça da República.
