The complex covers 555,000 m² with the possibility of expansion with a further 150,000 m² and houses both BMC Defense, responsible for tank production, and BMC Power, which develops the National Drive Group Batu.
According to the official planning, the first deliveries of the Altay-T1 start in 2025 with 3 units and will be delivered a total of 85 tanks by 2028. The Altay-T2 version will be produced from 2028, with another 165 vehicles.
Characteristics of the Altay tank
The Altay is the first main camp tank of a new generation that has been fully developed in Turkey. Designed to meet the requirements of modern battle, the vehicle combines superior firepower, advanced armor and high mobility in various operational scenarios.
In the T1 version, the existing systems are considerably optimized, while the future T2 will contain extra innovations and technological improvements.
Currently, the Turkish forces use foreign models such as Leopard 2A4, Leopard 1, M60TM, M60A3 and M48A5T2, produced in the US and Germany. Among them, Leopard 2A4 and M60TM are considered the most modern use.
