President Lula receives connection from Vladimir Putin

President Lula received a call from Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to the Planalto Palace, on the call, about 30 minutes, and Putin shared information about the meeting with Donald Trump in Alaska, last Friday (15), evaluating it as positive.

The Russian President addressed several topics discussed with Trump, and recognized Brazil’s involvement with the Peace Friends Group, a joint initiative with China. The group was announced last year and combines global southern countries that aim to establish common understandings to support global efforts to achieve peace.

President Lula thanked the call, and reaffirmed Brazil’s support to all efforts that lead to a peaceful solution to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. He also wished for negotiations.

“On Monday, August 18, President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva received a call from Russian President Vladimir Putin. In the connection of about 30 minutes, Putin shared information about his meeting with President Donald Trump, United States, in Alaska, on August 15, which evaluated as positive.”

“After addressing the various topics discussed with President Trump, Putin recognized Brazil’s involvement with the Peace Friends Group, a joint initiative with China.”

“President Lula thanked the call and reaffirmed Brazil’s support for all efforts that lead to a peaceful solution to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. He also wished the continued negotiations.”
