For the first time in Bolivia’s political history, the presidential dispute should be decided in the second round. According to the partial investigation of the country’s Supreme Electoral Court, the most voted candidate of the election was Senator Rodrigo Paz Pereira, of the Christian Democratic Party, with 32% of the votes. Secondly is former President Jorge “Tuto” Quiroga, from the Liberdade and Progress Alliance, with 19%.
The difference between the two right -wing candidates does not guarantee victory. The second round dispute will be on October 19. The result ends a 20 -year period in which Bolivia was led by leftist governments, led by the Movement to Socialism Party, Evo Morales and current President Luis Arce.
Affected by a deep economic crisis, Bolivians chose to turn the key in the hope of recovery. The country faces dollars, fuels and food shortages, and the largest inflation accumulated since 2008.
