The first polls conducted on Sunday, 17, point out that the presidential dispute in Bolivia should be defined in the second round.
According to a station survey Unitel TVcentrist senator Rodrigo Paz, of the Christian Democratic Party (PDC), leads the presidential race with 34% of the votes. Secondly, former conservative president Jorge “Tuto” Quiroga of the Alianza Libre coalition appears, with 31.5% of the electorate’s preference. Update at 10:30 pm (Brasília time).
The difference between the two candidates, although relevant, does not guarantee victory in the first round for peace. Bolivian electoral legislation requires absolute majority or at least 40% of the valid votes with ten percentage points of advantage over the runner -up.
Following, Samuel Doria Medin, from the National Unit Front, comes in third, with 13.9%, while Andronics Rodríguez of the Popular Alliance appears in fourth with 7.7%.
Thus, the most likely scenario is that the future president will be chosen only in the second round, in a direct dispute between peace and chiroga.
