Get to know the penitentiary
The P2 of Tremembé, officially called Dr. José Augusto César Salgado Penitentiary, has a capacity of over 390 prisoners between the semi -open and closed regimes. Built in 1948, the unit underwent wide restructuring after a 2000 rebellion, which destroyed part of its facilities. Since 2002, the penitentiary was known to receive “special prisoners” and was awarded in 2003 as a prison management model.
P2 prisoners participate in work and educational activities, including handicraft workshops, disinfectant tablet production, school desk renovation, lock factory, theater classes and reading groups. The unit is part of a prison complex of the Secretariat of Penitentiary Administration (SAP), which includes four other units in the same city.
