Writer and chronicler Luis Fernando Verissimo, 88, was admitted to the ICU of Moinhos de Vento Hospital in Porto Alegre, with principle of pneumonia. The information was confirmed on Sunday (17).
Verissimo’s state of health is considered severe due to the aggravation of other pre-existing medical conditions, such as the diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease, sequelae of a stroke suffered in 2021 and heart problems.
Throughout his career, Luis Fernando Verissimo has published more than 70 books and sold over 5 million copies. Recognized for his ironic and intelligent style, he also had a strong performance in journalism, writing columns for the main newspapers of Brazil and the capital of Rio Grande do Sul, his hometown.
