Where did Putin go after a meeting with Trump in Alaska?

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin met in a historic summit with President Donald Trump in Alaska last Friday (15). The meeting that aimed to discuss ways to end the war in Ukraine ended, however, without an immediate ceasefire agreement.

After the meeting, the Republican returned to the American capital. But where did Putin follow?

The Kremlin chief immediately returned to Russia. The dictator went to a cemetery in Alaska where the remains of Soviet pilots who died during World War II are buried.

Putin paid tribute, staying for a moment in front of each tomb, where he knelt down and left a bouquet of red roses.

In the cemetery visited by the Russian leader are buried eleven military personnel – nine of them pilots – and two Soviet citizens who died between 1942 and 1945 while trying to transport the planes provided by the United States.

Earlier, Putin emphasized, at a news conference with Trump, that in America, and particularly in Alaska, “a great Russian cultural legacy” is preserved.

“Orthodox temples, many, more than 700 geographical points that have Russian origin,” he said.

After about four hours in the United States, Putin left the American soil on the Kremlin plane-escorted by American F-23 fighters-where he left a meeting in the Russian region of Chukotka near Siberia, where he met with the local governor.

At the meeting between Russian and American leaders, Putin assured that he is “sincerely interested in ending” the war in Ukraine, but stressed, as he has done on countless times since the beginning of the military campaign in 2022, that the agreement for the conflict must have “a solid and lasting character” so that the causes that originated him are eliminated.
