Kremlin says Putin and Trump will not sign anything at Alaska

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump will discuss the “most complex affairs” at Friday’s summit in Alaska, but will not sign any documents, Kremlin said today.

“We start from the political goodwill demonstrated by the presidents of both countries to solve problems through dialogue. President Putin and President Trump are intended to dialogue and address the most complicated topics,” Russian Presidency spokesman Dmitri Peskov told Russian public television.

When asked if the two mandates plan to discuss a possible exchange of territories between Russia and Ukraine for conflict resolution, Peskov replied that “obviously issues related to the Ukrainian solution will be addressed.”

“This is a very complex and multifaceted theme,” he added.

He said that Putin and Trump will not sign anything at Alaska: “It’s not expected. Nothing has been prepared. There may hardly be a document.”

Putin “will explain the agreements and understandings achieved” at a news conference with Trump, the spokesman said.

The Russian dictator praised the “energetic and sincere” efforts of the US to end the fighting in Ukraine on the eve of the meeting in Alaska.

“The US is, in my opinion, making very energetic and sincere efforts to end military actions and the crisis,” Putin said at the beginning of an extraordinary meeting with high -ranking government and Kremlin officials.

As reported today Kremlin, Putin and Trump will start at 4:30 pm (GMT) this Friday the meeting at a military base in Alaska.

First, there will be a “face to face” between the two, which they will then join delegations composed of five high -ranking employees.

As had already been anticipated by the White House, the meeting will be held at the Elmendorf-Richardson military base, near the capital of Alaska, Anchorage.
