The mayor of São Bernardo do Campo, in ABC Paulista, Marcelo Lima (Somos), was removed from office for a year after an operation of the Military Police on Thursday (14) that investigates an alleged case of corruption and money laundering in the city hall, which is in Greater São Paulo. Two councilors are also investigated.
Investigations began in July 2025, after the Federal Police seized $ 14 million in kind (part of the amount was in dollar in the apartment of a server named the mayor’s financial operator and scheme operator. He is on the run. The agents rated the property as a “true bunker” of money.
They were also found at the address proof of payments from a credit card bill from Marcelo Lima and a first lady’s telephone account. The agents also found vehicle badges to access the city headquarters.
Now, the Federal Police are serving two pre -trial detention warrants, one against the property owner, and 20 search and seizure. The corporation points to suspicions of corruption and bribe payments in contracts with companies aimed at the public administration, such as works, health and maintenance.
Police even requested the arrest of Marcelo Lima, but the request was denied by the court. The determination, however, is that the mayor wears an electronic anklet, as well as the ban on leaving home at night and at the end of weeks, having contact with other investigated and leaving the city without judicial authorization.
The mayor of São Bernardo do Campo, Councilman Danilo Lima Ramos (Somos), was also removed from office by court decision.
