Deputy Minister resigns due to the support of president to Maduro

The Deputy Minister for Hondura Consular Affairs and Migratory Affairs, Carlos Antonio García Carranza, resigned on Tuesday (12), due to the support of leftist president Xiomara Castro to Venezuela dictator Nicolás Maduro.

Over the weekend, Castro expressed solidarity with Chavista, after the United States doubled on Thursday (7) the reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the dictator of Venezuela (the offer is now $ 50 million).

In the announcement of the change, Trump Attorney General Pam Bondi said Maduro has connections with Venezuelan gangs Tren de Aragua, Los Soles cartel (of which the dictator would be leader, according to the US) and the Mexican Cartel de Sinaloa and that the Tyran of Venezuela is “one of the world’s largest drug traffickers”.

“The state of Honduras categorically rejects the accusations made against President Nicolás Maduro,” said Castro.

According to information from Portal Coyuado, in his resignation letter, García said he would rather resign because support for Maduro could impact Hondurens immigrants in the United States and “does not favor the national interest, nor the well-being of our fellow citizens.”

In an interview with Televicentro, the now former vice-minister spoke more about the matter. “I do this due to irreconcilable differences with the direction that the country has taken, especially this weekend, with the news of Venezuela, solidarity with Venezuela,” he criticized.
