On Tuesday (12), the State Department of Donald Trump management released its 2024 report regarding the human rights situation in other countries.
In addition to Brazil, where, according to the government of the Republican agent, “broad and disproportionate measures were taken to undermine freedom of expression”, “disproportionately suppressing the discourse of supporters of former President Jair Bolsonaro, as well as journalists and elected politicians,” the document alleged worrying situation in other countries. Europa
The report claimed that there was a “worsening” in the human rights situation in Germany, the United Kingdom and France, the three largest economic and military powers in Europe.
“Significant human rights issues have included restrictions on freedom of expression and reliable reports of crimes, violence or threats of violence motivated by anti -Semitism,” the State Department of Germany said.
The folder cited as an example of restricting freedom of expression the requirement by law that “internet companies, including US internet platforms, remove the hatred speech in 24 hours, or face heavy fines.”
Similar considerations were made over France and the United Kingdom, but in the case of the British, the State Department stated that “sometimes the government has taken reliable measures to identify and punish authorities that committed human rights abuses, but the process and punishment for such abuse were inconsistent.”
The report pointed out that after an attack on Southport in July 2024 in which three girls were stabbed to death, “local and national government authorities repeatedly intervened to restrict freedom of expression as to the perpetrator’s identity and reasons (later identified as Axel Rudakubana, a British citizen of Origin Origin)”.
“The government urged companies, including US companies, to censor speeches considered misinformation or ‘hate speech’,” the state department said.
Cuba
Regarding the Castrist dictatorship, the Trump government cited a series of reports of human rights violations, including disappearances; cruel torture or treatment, inhuman or degrading by the government; arbitrary imprisonment and detention; Transnational repression against individuals in another country; serious restrictions on freedom of expression and press freedom, including violence or threats of violence against journalists, arrests or unjustified processes against journalists and censorship; restrictions on religious freedom; trafficking in persons, including state -sponsored forced labor; and prohibition of independent unions and significant and systematic restrictions on the freedom of workers’ association.
Venezuela
The report pointed out that the human rights situation in Venezuela “worsened significantly” in 2024, the year of electoral fraud that maintained chavismo in power.
“Throughout the year, and particularly after the presidential election of July 28, Nicolás Maduro and his representatives committed serious human rights violations, reaching a new milestone in law degradation after the election, according to UN UN International Mission in September in September,” said the State Department.
Nicaragua
The Central American country, ruled by dictator Daniel Ortega, was another whose human rights situation worsened in 2024, according to the State Department.
“The government intensified attacks on civil liberties and also violated religious freedom, pursuing and holding faithful and religious leaders,” he warned.
China
The document mentioned Beijing’s systematic violations against human rights, such as political repression and freedom of expression, but opened the part of the report that speaks of China remembering the persecution of the Uigures.
“Genocide and crimes against humanity occurred during the year in China against predominantly Muslims and members of other minority ethnic and religious groups in Xinjiang,” the state department said.
