The White House reported on Tuesday that the government of US President Donald Trump arrested more than 300,000 illegal immigrants in the first six months since the republican’s return to power.
“Despite numerous fake reports in the press, almost 70% of these arrests were from foreign nationality criminals who have prior accusations or convictions,” Government spokesman Karoline Leavitt said at a news conference.
For Trump’s secretary of press, these numbers represent “a total success” because “eliminate the most dangerous threats to the public security of US communities and return these people to their home countries.”
Since his return to power in January, the US President has intensified his anti-immigration policy, has reinforced the mandate of agencies such as the Immigration and Customs Service (Ice) and has driven the increase in arrests, fulfilling his promise to conduct a historical mass deportation campaign of illegality in the country.
Leavitt stressed that, according to the updated numbers of the Customs Office and Border Protection (CBP) published today, illegal crossings fell again for historical minimums in July, when about 24,628 border approaches were registered at the national level.
“This is the smallest monthly number of border patrol arrests across the country, surpassing the previous record established in June,” said the White House spokesman.
At the southwest limit with Mexico, 4,601 arrests were made in the seventh month of 2025, which, according to the CBP, means 24% less than the previous historical minimum of June (6,070), and 92% less than a year ago (56.4 thousand).
The new border patrol report reveals that last month was not accounted for migratory proper freedom liberations compared to the 12,365 US-MEXIC borders registered in July 2024.
“The excuses are over. Liberations are over. We put the cards on the defensive and recovered our border,” National Security Secretary Kristi Noem said in a statement.
