Iranian police arrested about 21,000 “suspects” to collaborate with Israel during the 12-day war in June, according to the country’s state media released on Tuesday (12).
Iranian police spokesman Saeed Montazeralmahdi, said the more than 20,000 suspects were arrested between June 13 and 24 amid the exchange of attacks between Tehran and Tel Aviv.
The officer said part of the arrests occurred thanks to the 7,850 reports of citizens about suspicious actions that took place during the conflict, which “demonstrates the greater cooperation and surveillance of citizens.”
Montazeralmahdi did not give information about how many of the detainees remain arrested or were formally accused of crimes.
The Iranian judiciary reported last Saturday that 20 people had been arrested for allegedly working for Israel’s secret services – Mossad – in recent months, although it has pointed out that some of them had been released without accusations.
In addition, at least six prisoners have been executed for collaborating with Mossad since June 13. During the 12 -day war, Israel bombed military, nuclear and civil facilities, killing dozens of high -ranking Iranian military and nuclear scientists.
Iran responded to these attacks with the daily launch of missiles and drones by aiming civilians in Israeli territory, which resulted in 30 dead.
