The US Department of State has approved a possible Foreign military sales (FMS) to Canada’s government up to 60 Common Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTV) and related equipment to an estimated value of 160 million USD.

Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) officially informed the US Congress on the decision last Friday.
In addition to the vehicles include the package that Canada has requested, up to nine JLTV chargers as well as equipment not classified as Major Defense Equipment (MDE). Among these are communication systems, mobility equipment, mortality improvements and survivability, spare parts, specialized tools and testing equipment (STEE), technical manuals, maintenance trainers, exercise programs, full field support, depot level maintenance, repair services and logistical and programmatic support.
According to DSCA, sales will help to strengthen the burden of burden with allies and partners, support peace operations and peacekeeping missions around the world. The authority also emphasized that the transaction “will not change the basic military balance of the region”.
