Israel says that journalist killed in Gaza was a terrorist of Hamas

The Defense Forces of Israel (FDI) said this Sunday (10) That Palestinian journalist Anas Al Sharif, who provided services to Qatar’s Al Jazeera broadcaster, killed in a Gaza air strike, headed a Hamas terrorist cell responsible for launching rockets against Israeli civilians and troops. The bombing that culminated in the death of Al Sharif was held against a tent near the Al Shifa Hospital in the city of Gaza, and also killed four other journalists and two civilians, according to Al Jazeera.

According to the 28 -year -old military statement published by Israel, Al Sharif, “operated under the disguise of a journalist” and was a member of an Elite Nukhba Force Unit in the East Jabalia Battalion of Hamas. The Israeli Army said it had presented documents seized in Gaza that “unequivocally prove” his military connection with Hamas and his role in coordinating attacks.

Al Jazeera, however, denied the accusations and classified the attack as “a desperate attempt to silence voices in anticipation of Gaza’s occupation.” The station described Al Sharif as “one of Gaza’s bravest journalists” and said that he and his colleagues “were among the last voices that conveyed the tragic reality of the enclave.

Israel and Al Jazeera maintain a relationship of confrontation. Last year, the Israeli government banned the station from operating in the country and closed its offices. Qatar, which finances the channel, serves as a shelter for Hamas political leaders and has been one of the main mediators in indirect negotiations between Israel and the terrorist group.

British Prime Minister Keir Strmer expressed “serious concern” about what he called “repeated attacks on journalists in Gaza” and said that “reporters who cover conflicts have protection guaranteed by international humanitarian law.” Asked about Al Sharif’s connection with Hamas, Stmerer’s spokesman stated that “this should be investigated thoroughly and independently.”
